Normally attendant charge on per hour basis (besides some fixed component). You can hire them for as low as 1 hour; or upto 8 / 10 / 12 hours. They can be hired for lookafter every night and can stay alongside day & night.

Nurse
Qualified and skilled medical professionals who hold degree or diploma in nursing care. It's like appointing a hospital like nurse for care for your patient in home. If your patient is in need of advanced medical care at home in the supervision of a doctor then go for a nurse.
Be aware that Nurse's first priority is skilled care. Do not expect them to do activities generally unrelated to healthcare like cooking etc.
You can request a nursing visit for a quick injection or it can be full day care / care during night / round the clock resident care. Usually nurses team up for round the clock care on rotation basis (12 hours each). If patient is not very critical, you can opt for a single resident nurse.

Babysitter
If your baby is already grown-up and you need somebody to take care of your kid in your absence or additional helping hand. Babysitter in that case is best suited.
Remember, not everybody is very good at care of a new born infant. But educated and experienced babysitter can be good in handling kids of 2-6 years of age and even more.
Here again based on your other commitments, you can hire a babysitter for day care, or care during night or on full time basis to live 24x7 alongside for your child's care.

You can lookout and hire a female who can stay 24 x 7 alongside for assistant. Or you can always appoint a nanny who can come in for few hours for the care of mother and child; or else for full day and even for night in the initial days.
